Agentschap NL > GAVE
GAVE is a government programme that supports the development and introduction of climate-neutral fuels in the Dutch transport sector. The programme's most important task is to support the implementation of the European Renewable Energy Directive into Dutch national legislation with respect to biofuels. This EU Directive states that, by the year 2020, 10% of the energy used in the transport sector must be derived from renewable energy.

Hytruck develops hydrogen-based distribution truck
Date published: Sep 20, 2007
Hytruck has developed a hydrogen-based distribution truck based on a 7.5 ton Mitsubishi Canter. The engine, gearbox, differential, back axle and fuel tank in this model have all been replaced by a high-tech, zero-emission fuel cell system. The vehicle has two 8kW fuel cells as primary power source, and a battery pack supplies the necessary energy to two special wheel motors. The kinetic energy that is released during braking is thus regenerated. The project is supported by SenterNovem. Hytruck is currently working on a so-called `pilot production vehicle` that should be ready for production in the foreseeable future.
